Great Place Until You Leave
Review Date: 8/1/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
I lived in the Sterling Pointe Apartments when they were called "Templeton Park Apartments" when I was a senior in high school living with my parents back in 94. We moved out of town but I moved back in 2000. The first place I thought of was those apartments. By then, they were called "Sterling Pointe Apartments". And of course the cost of rent was a bit higher. My security deposit was 425 dollars. My wife and I were perfect tenants. She was pregnant at the time. We made frequent trips to the clubhouse to use the pool and the gym equipment. After staying there for one year, we decided on buying a house. I did some selling and buying on Ebay and would have packages signed for by people working in the admin desk area. We knew each other pretty well. Would talk about things together. Would enjoy lunch in the clubhouse sometimes. It was a pleasant experience. When it came time to leave, my wife and I had the carpet cleaned even though it didn't really need it. We moved all of the appliances, cleaned the floors and appliances thoroughly. Spent a good day long cleaning and making everything spotless when we left. We wanted it to look better than when we got there and it was. When we got there there were a couple wine stains on the carpet. No big deal. After professional cleaning, the stains were gone. When we checked out of the apartment, we were told that they were busy showing apartments to potential tenants. I was personally told that they really didn't think that an inspection was necessary since we were ideal tenants and they were sure there wouldn't be any problems. They said I could expect my security deposit money in the mail in a few weeks. About a month later I called them and they said there were no problems and that my money would be mailed out soon. About another month later I called and was told there was a delay because of and accounting and administration error but they assured me I would get my money soon. Another month later, I received a BILL from them for 425 dollars, the exact amount of my security deposit showing a listing of things they said were broken and in bad shape. They said there were stains and holes in the carpeting which was a complete fabrication. They said the appliances were scratched and ruined. All lies. Angered by this letter and bill from them I called and was told I could talk to their manager about it. I went there the next day with pictures I had taken after the cleaning in hand and was rudely told I was welcome to bring those to court, and was told that the actual bill was for more than 425 but they were doing me a "favor" that would be renegged and they would slap me with the entire bill in court. Naturally, I can't in good faith recommend these apartments to anyone. |
